ROOTS AND BEGINNINGS

My name is Judit Prieto, and I am the creator of a personal project focused on functional and artistic ceramic.

JOURNEY THROUGH CRAFT AND BEAUTY

Born in Barcelona, my journey began in the world of hospitality and gastronomy, where I developed a deep appreciation for presentation and the small details that create memorable experiences. This sensibility led me to study floral design at the “Escola de Disseny Floral de Barcelona”, I later directed a studio specializing in high-profile events and weddings in Barcelona.

For almost a decade, I managed creative teams and floral projects for renowned venues such as Casa Batlló, the Museu Picasso, and the Fundació Joan Miró. These experiences taught me how beauty, harmony, and emotional depth can come together to create truly meaningful atmospheres.

My connection with craft and nature eventually found a new form through clay. After moving to Switzerland, I discovered ceramics as a way to slow down and reconnect with my hands — a practice that began as a quiet refuge and slowly grew into a deep vocation.

Through self-taught exploration, countless hours at the wheel, and the guidance of master artisans, I found in clay a language to express both strength and vulnerability.

THE ARTS OF MATERIALS AND NATURE

My background in floral art nurtured my sensitivity to natural materials, composition, and balance — qualities that now find new expression in my ceramics. From my studio in Männedorf, Switzerland, I create pieces that combine contrasting textures and noble materials like fine porcelain and chamotte clays.

Inspired by the dialogue between nature and craftsmanship, my work reflects both strength and fragility, echoing my own path of healing and transformation.

Each piece bridges the essence of two worlds: the textures and light of my Mediterranean roots — the sea, the fields of the Empordà, and the warmth and vibrancy of Barcelona — with the grounding serenity of the Swiss landscape that now surrounds me.

Together, they evoke a harmony between past and present, between earth and spirit, between where I come from and where I have learned to belong.

PHILOSOPHY OF BEAUTY AND FUNCTION

My ceramics reflect the simplicity and imperfect beauty of nature, balancing functionality and user experience. Each piece is designed to elevate everyday rituals with strength, elegance, and warmth.
